FIFA-Licensed Agent Olawale urges Super Eagles to convert half chances

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Portugal-based FIFA-licensed football agent Olawale Onipede has called on Nigeria ‘s senior men’s national team to sharpen their attack ahead of upcoming World Cup qualifiers, stressing that the team must learn to take advantage of even half chances in front of goal.

“It is high time our national team players convert half chances if they are truly ready for the World Cup,” Olawale said.

“At that stage, you can’t wait for clear-cut opportunities. Full chances should be a bonus — we must adapt to taking whatever openings come our way.”

Reflecting on Nigeria’s recent performance, he praised the defense but admitted concern over the forward line.

“I am impressed with the defensive display today, but the attack is asleep without Osimhen. That is a worrying song for us all. Lookman is clearly lacking match fitness for his club, and it showed. On the positive side, Tolu showed quality and gave a good performance — I hope he gets more goals and playing time,” he added.

Olawale warned that without improvements in the final third, Nigeria risk falling short on the world stage.

“If we don’t improve rapidly, we might end up watching the World Cup from home with family and friends on TV,”* he cautioned with a smile.
